Lake Mburo National Park Uganda Wildlife

Lake Mburo National Park forms the magical iconic wildlife habituation in its smallest ecological Niche in the western region of Uganda Kiruhura District, just about 30 kilometers, accessible by road, east of Mbarara town. Mburo park is a confined cente for short day group Uganda Safaris, and is a centre to most of the Uganda Parks to the western part.

Although it’s known for its small area the park is the only place best to view a recorded number of over 350 bird species including the kingfisher, papyrus, great snipe, yellow warble, white winged warbler.

As well as a number of mammals including Zebras, impalas, giraffes, Elands, buffaloes, water bucks, leopards, hippos, hyenas, topis, spotted hyena, reed bucks, olive baboons, and also a lion which has recently returned after a long period after poaching. The park has different lakes and swamps that support abundant herds of antelopes, attracts hippos and crocodiles. The park takes approximately 4 hours from Kampala the capital city of Uganda

What to Do and see in Lake Mburo National Park

The park has a number of catching activities that make our adventure a unique one full of rewarding beautiful scenic views and eye-catching activities including.

Boat ride: Our visitors normally go for this enticing event in the afternoon with an experienced game ranger which starts at 3pm where you get a chance to spot out a variety of bird species including the fish eagle, shoebill, king fisher and many more

The boat gives you an experience to spot out hippos at the swamps, crocodiles as they cool their bodies in water. On your lucky day, you might get a chance to spot out situating antelope in the papyrus.

Enjoy a beautifully scenery of a varied landscape full of interest, color refreshing and giving full life sight enjoy an encounter well you sight different species.

Nature walk: The whole park can be accessible, spread out with an armed ranger to all corners of the jungle. With this walk, you can easily spot out a number of animals including hippos returning to the water after a night graze, hyenas going back to their dens, zebras, elands and many more.

Enjoy a nature walk as you go through the Rubanga forest which is near the park, get a chance to encounter with the primates including the white and black colobus monkey, red tailed monkeys spot out a number of bird species, tree species and many more.

Birding: Lake Mburo national park is a home to over 350 bird species where a bird lover tourist can be delighted in to spot out a number of birds including the red faced barbet, African scops owl, saddle-billed stork, brown parrot, Ross’s Turaco, and many more.

Fishing Lake Mburo has 5 lakes with in the park and a total of 12 lakes general where fisher men come to fish. The sports fishing is an activity visitors can also carry out fishing with the help of the lodge which can cater to prepare your fish. This can be done here as well as to obtain your sports fishing licences. There are six fish species here and Tilapia is the main fish at the lake.

Horse riding Lake Mburo national park is the only park one can do a game drive on the horse back well viewing the wildlife, the horseback lasts for 2 hours.

Cycling is another way to discover and explore the wildlife in their habitats these are guided drives enjoy an amazing experience to spot out the antelopes, zebras, buffaloes in the flat area.
